January 10 is Houseplant Appreciation Day, and there is no better time to celebrate the healthy glow of living plants than when it is icy and cold outside. Here is an introduction to different types of house plants that are easy to keep!

  • If you’re living in a home without much direct sunlight, give low-light options like heart-leaf philodendron, prayer plants, or dracaena a chance.
  • If you have lots of sun, try out sun lovers like jade, yucca, cactus, or ponytail palm.
  • If you’re someone who tends to forget about your plants, ZZ plant, kalanchoe, and philodendrons tend to do okay on their own for the most part.

Go online and take a look at what some of these plants look like, and pick the ones that work best for you! There are plants out there for everyone! If you’re looking for true no-maintenance foliage, think about a lovely artificial plant. Their pretty plastic leaves will never go brown, no matter how hard you try.
